Our Growing Practices

We grow improved trees without any synthetic fertilizers or pesticides.

Our fertility inputs include: composted hardwood wood chips and pasteurized human urine provided by our partners at the Rich Earth Institute.

All of our nut trees are inoculated with known symbiotic ectomycorrhizal fungi, and all of our fruit trees and honey locusts are inoculated with known symbiotic arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi.

Our propagation systems have been designed to maximize the quality and transplantability of the trees we offer. Ever trialing and iterating, we are thrilled to offer vigorous trees ready to thrive in their forever home.

Our nursery is an alley-cropping system. The seedlings are grown in between orchard rows of trees that will grow to full size. An ever-dynamic combination of germplasm repository, scion trees, orchard trees, seedling trials, and soil builders rounds out this dynamic ecosystem.
